The Valley of the Withering Flower

The Valley of the Withering Flower
Scott David James
circa 2004

As i walk through the valley of the withering flower
I fear naught the demise of life
For i know in my heart
That in decay,
life is reborn

The ashes and dust may settle
And with them,
mineral for herb

Of this,
rebirth

Such is my knowledge

And as i walk through the valley of the withering flower
Death is without panic

For ahead in the distance
A bloom breaks free
A blossom reaching to the sun
That inexhaustible sphere

The light
Hope

And the sky weeps to feed it

Such is not sadness
Thus does not cause madness

I walk through the valley of the withering flower
Humbly treading
As the newborn threads beyond decay.
