Fireflies

Fireflies
Scott David James
Circa 2009

Fireflies flit before my eyes
Like ashes flung from crackling embers
Dancing skyward
Fascination
Wonder
Tiny faeries lifted up and fading
Vagabonds distancing

Love is fleeting
Those times preoccupy
Sometimes time to time
And it’s alright

Fireflies flitting before my eyes
Embers racing toward the skies
Whirlwind whipping
Punch-drunk stupor
Love preoccupies
Like Fireflies before my eyes
